Car wash and vacuum payments

Cashless Payment Integration for Car Washes and Vacuums

Add cashless payments to compatible car wash bays and vacuum equipment. Paying.co connects payment acceptance to supported controllers and activation interfaces, with software and integration work scoped around your equipment and operating requirements. Not every controller is compatible, and software alone does not complete a retrofit.

01 · Supported applications

Self-service bays, vacuums, and other timed equipment.

We start with equipment that is already installed and the controller that runs it. Automatic wash and membership systems are discussed only where capabilities are confirmed for the specific setup.

BAYSSelf-service wash bays

Bays where payment starts a wash cycle or buys wash time.

VACUUMSCoin-operated vacuums

Vacuums where payment buys a period of use.

OTHEROther supported equipment

Add-on services and similar timed equipment, confirmed per setup.

CONFIRMED ONLYAutomatic wash and membership

Included only where capabilities are confirmed. We do not promise recurring memberships or automatic wash control without confirmed scope.

02 · Equipment and controller assessment

Do not assume every controller uses the same signal.

We validate against actual documentation and representative equipment. Here is what we look at:

The equipment

  • check_circleManufacturer, model, and controller
  • check_circleExisting coin or payment setup
  • check_circleBay and vacuum count, site count

The interface

  • check_circleDocumented pulse input or other interface
  • check_circleElectrical compatibility, isolation, interface hardware
  • check_circlePulse-to-credit or time mapping
  • check_circleActivation, status, or usage feedback

The deployment

  • check_circleIntended reader, payment provider, country
  • check_circleNetwork, power, mounting, enclosure, installation conditions
03 · Payment modes and required components

Sending pulses for time is not metering actual usage.

We explain precisely what your implementation supports.

MODE A

Fixed-price activation

What service or credit a defined payment activates.

MODE B

Prepaid timed use

How payment maps to time, and which controller maintains the timer.

MODE C

Additional credit

Whether and how a customer can extend a supported session.

MODE D

Usage-based billing

Actual metering or status integration, authorization and capture behavior, and provider support. Only if confirmed.

Required components

  • check_circleCard reader
  • check_circleInterface hardware
  • check_circleSoftware
  • check_circleConnectivity
  • check_circleInstallation
  • check_circleProcessing services

We identify which items are supplied separately.

Product path

Pulse Pay Connect is the product path for supported pulse-based equipment. Other interfaces or back-office requirements may need separately scoped engineering. See Unattended Payment Systems, Platform Integrations, and MDB vs. Pulse: Which Interface Does Your Machine Need?. A car wash is not assumed to use MDB.

04 · Activation, feedback, and recovery

Approval, pulse delivery, and confirmation are separate.

Sending a pulse does not by itself prove service started or completed. We cover duplicate protection, lost responses, device and network interruptions, unresolved outcomes, reversals or refunds, and reconciliation within actual product and provider capabilities, and we describe the feedback available and its limits. We do not imply indiscriminate retries are safe or that every machine provides fulfillment data. Read Payment Approved, Machine Didn’t Start: Designing Recovery for Unattended Payments.

05 · Outdoor installation

Requirements to evaluate for your site.

We evaluate the actual environment and publish ratings or approvals only when they are verified for the actual components.

Hardware and site

  • check_circleReader and enclosure suitability for exposure and operating conditions
  • check_circleMounting, accessibility, tamper considerations, and serviceability
  • check_circlePower, wiring, and electrical or interface compatibility

Operation and responsibilities

  • check_circleConnectivity and outage behavior
  • check_circleManufacturer and installer requirements
  • check_circleInstallation responsibilities
06 · Pilot, rollout, and support

Assess, pilot, then roll out.

01

Assess

Equipment and controller review.

02

Choose the path

A compatible integration path.

03

Pilot

One bay or vacuum, installed and validated.

04

Roll out and operate

Pricing configuration, transaction records, reconciliation, updates, and support where available.

07 · Costs and product next steps

The software license is not the total retrofit cost.

Software licensing is separate from the reader, interface hardware, installation, networking, processing fees, and ongoing support. For confirmed-compatible deployments, download and purchase on the Pulse Pay Connect page. We explain what is included, what you are responsible for, and the activation steps up front.

Common questions

Car wash and vacuum payments, answered plainly.

Can any car wash bay or vacuum accept cards?
No. Compatibility depends on the equipment, its controller, and the interface it exposes, and software alone does not complete a retrofit. We start with an assessment of your actual equipment.
Is prepaid time the same as pay-per-use billing?
No. Sending pulses to purchase a set amount of time is different from measuring actual usage and billing afterward. Prepaid timed use maps a payment to time, with a controller maintaining the timer. Usage-based billing needs real metering or status integration and provider support, and we describe it only where it is confirmed.
Can customers add more time during a session?
Only where the equipment and the implementation support it. We state exactly what extension behavior your setup supports and do not promise session extensions without confirmed scope.
Does the system confirm the wash or vacuum actually started?
Only where the equipment provides feedback. Sending a pulse does not by itself prove service started or completed. We describe the available feedback and its limits, and we do not imply every machine provides fulfillment data or that retries are always safe.
Is the software license the total cost?
No. The license is separate from the reader, interface hardware, installation, networking, processor fees, and support.
Where do I download or purchase the software?
On the existing Pulse Pay Connect page, for confirmed-compatible deployments.
